About the license

The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) operates as the supervisory authority for the gaming sector in Curaçao. Established in April 1999, the authority issues direct remote gaming licences under the regime introduced in December 2024. The authority maintains a public register of active licences and oversees gaming operations based on the island.

The licensing structure provides separate categories for operators and suppliers. Consumer-facing platforms obtain a remote gaming licence covering casino games, sports betting, and poker. Essential technology partners receive a critical supplier licence, while secondary service providers can obtain a three-year certificate. Operators also register each website domain and gaming application.

Remote gaming licences are granted for an indefinite period, subject to regular annual payments. Application processing is conducted in two 8-week phases (each extendable by up to 4 weeks) and costs €4,592, with an additional €150 per beneficial owner (€2,551 for publicly traded entities) and €250 per registered domain name. Annual contributions consist of €22,960 for CGA supervisory activities and €24,490 in government dues. Critical suppliers pay an annual fee of €24,490.

Licensees must form a company in Curaçao managed by at least one resident director. The business must maintain local office facilities and keep player and transaction data on a server located within a datacenter in Curaçao. The requirement to employ resident key personnel has been deferred until April 1, 2027.
